A Poem: You and Her and… Me

I have you.

You have her.
She has you.
Now what am I supposed to do?
Now what am I to be in the story?
The girl you call your friend?
or the girl you deliberately did not choose?
I am me. She is she.
But I can’t help but notice,
She likes the same books I like.
She likes the same movies I like.
Well? I may be too sad and pathetic –
but am I really?
Because I never looked for a replacement.
I never looked for another “YOU”.
I know there is no other.
And would not want any other.
I am me. She is she.
You have her.
You.
Have.
Her.
