Because, for once, I am celebrating International Women’s Day.
I WANT TO SHARE THIS CONVERSATION FROM THE BBC TV SERIES, SHERLOCK, IN HOPES THAT IT WILL INSPIRE Y’ALL THAT WOMEN DO MATTER; DESPITE WHAT OTHERS MIGHT SAY. WE ARE MORE THAN CLEANING LADIES,HOUSEWIVES, AND DOMESTICATED BRIDES. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY IS NOT ONLY A DAY TO CELEBRATE FEMININITY BUT A DAY FOR MEN AND WOMEN TO REMEMBER THAT “FEMINISM” IS NOT ONLY A WOMAN’S ISSUE. THIS DAY IS NOT ONLY FOR WOMEN, BUT ALSO FOR MEN. Let us all take a moment and think. There are days that are truly worth celebrating. And worth understanding why we celebrate it, first and foremost.
This is one.
Cheers to us all!
And may this war soon come to a victorious close.
Here’s the convo.
MARY>: But why would she do that? Die to prove a point?
SHERLOCK<: Every great cause has martyrs. Every war has suicide missions and make no mistake, this is war. One half of the human race at war with the other. The invisible army, hovering at our elbow, tending to our homes, raising our children. Ignored, patronised, disregarded. Not allowed so much as a vote. But an army nonetheless, ready to rise up in the best of causes. To put right to an injustice as old as humanity itself.
Great words. Don’t you think?
Happy International Women’s Day to us all! Let us not stay ignorant to all issues women face every single day. Some of us are lucky we were born fortunate. Others, are not.
Hey there! Off to work in a bit. I’ll be making a come back after taking a civil service examination this Sunday. I’m quite nervous about it but … I’ll be fine. If you’re not following me in twitter, my next post is centered on John Wick Chapter 2 and Marvel’s Logan. I watched them a week apart and they certainly did not disappoint. Stay tuned y’all! And have a good day! Until then, the chocolate-maker signs off.
