In an epic tennis battle, the Russian professional tennis player, after 277 points and undoubtedly a very long match, (3hrs and 36mins) won against her opponent, J. Jankovic in 4-6, 7-5, 7-9.
Four straight games from the Serbian and the winds have changed!
A marathon indeed. It was thrilling to watch both 31 year-olds rally and serve balls to stay in the game. The Russian clearly holding on for dear life, and the Serbian former number one making it hard for her.
All’s well that ends well, however. Third time is a charm, indeed. Svetlana is set to battle with Pavlyuchenkova, a fellow Russian for Round 4 tomorrow.
