Sunshine Blogger Award, eh?

Yet another award from this very wonderful dude, manvsloneliness. Arigatōgozaimashita, dude. Your recognition means a lot, along with the countless others who have read, liked, shared, and commented on my ‘chocolates.’

This is amazing! I am barely two months in and already, these amazing responses are flooding my life! My life is now full of joy and happiness than I could ever imagine.

This blog was created to uplift myself and share my innermost bittersweet thoughts and moments in my life. Who would have thought I would get to meet such amazing people who are very kind and awesomely creative! Frankly, I am very flattered to be considered for such an award since most of my posts show the dark side of the moon, figuratively. Sadness, loneliness, and heartbreak are a few of the tags I have commonly used. It is in this regard that when a person thinks my posts are great, and/or when a notification pops up and someone comments, the ache somehow fades. I am glad that people find delight in some of my posts and that some of the people I converse with in this virtual world of blogging are out there, smiling. Those sunshine rays will not be wasted.

Once again, a very big shout out to the dude who for countless times, has been a very good support and has even managed to inspire me with some of the topics I have written, published or not.

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person that nominated you. Answer the questions from your nominator. Nominate fellow bloggers you follow. Give them 10 questions to answer.

Manvsloneliness’s questions were, for lack of a better term to describe them, DISTURBINGLY HARD. It may be the sole reason (nah, truth is I got school, exams, and house work to tend to also) why I wasn’t able to respond to this nomination as soon as I got it. I might be bending the rules I little bit on this one. Seriously, man? How am I supposed to answer these questions? There’s just about one or two questions I can answer without effort.

My answers:

  1. What is the most embarrassing/stupid thing you’ve ever done to impress or get the attention of someone you were romantically interested in?
    • This. Is. Very. Hard. Honestly, I don’t think I have ever done anything embarrassing and/or stupid to practically impress someone I was romantically interested in. I have never had a boyfriend so … I have had my fair share (obviously more than I can possibly imagine) of unrequited love affairs. I loved them. That’s about it. Call me a fool or stupid for loving people who can’t love me back, but that’s just how it was those days.
  2. Did it work?
    • All the guys I have had an interest in are really close friends of mine and they all know it so I don’t think I actually had to do anything to get their undivided attention than just be me when we hang out  – alone or with friends.
  3. What would be your final meal?
    • On my deathbed, I’d be like… (me to the chef) Pasta. And to be more specific, my mother’s spaghetti, if you please. So that it’d be free.
  4. Could you remember and describe a dream or nightmare that was very significant to you? Maybe a recurring one or perhaps one that seemed so vivid to you even to this day.
    • I do not remember my dreams! I did, however, always share this very amazing nightmare with friends during my elementary years.

Here is how it went.

Me and my classmates were in school and it was late at night. We were ghost hunting and as we walked down the creepy corridors, we passed by our classroom. I saw a girl, sitting down writing something on one of the armchairs. I was quick in poking one of my friend to show my awesome discovery but just as I was about to show it to them and looked back, the girl was gone and I was transported to our house’s terrace. Our house, at the time, was one in a compound and our terrace fronts a bigger houses’ rooftop. There, I saw the same girl I saw in our classroom. And this time, she was floating! Excited, I climbed the rooftop clinging to our terraces rungs and just as I landed on the pavement, the girl greeted me! She had no eyes; the spaces where her eye should have been, are hollow holes and her mouth, opened wide (she was gaping), showed she had no teeth either. I stood there, frozen in shock. And I woke up to the sound of my father’s rants.

  1. What is your favorite room in your house and why?
    • If the kitchen were a room; and it were hidden, yes. But no, it is not hidden. And so I go about the kitchen for as late it could get, and eat in my room. Yep, my room smells of desserts and burger, and pizza, and chicken, most days. The only day it gets cleaning is :
      1. If my parents complain.
      2. If someone visits.
      3. On Sundays. When I want to write and end up cleaning the mess I made, instead.
  2. What is the worst thing about living where you live?
    • Traffic! Transportation in the Philippines suck! I am not a particularly patient person, you know. Imagine sitting in traffic for almost two hours for just a 4-6 kilometer distance!
  3. How do you deal with cold weather?
    • This is the only easy question in the batch. Ice cream, and a good movie. Cold in our country is not that cold compared to winter in most countries so yeah, I deal with cold weather that way. Judge away, people! Haha.
  4. Could you please share with me one of your most favorite pieces from your blog and why you are most proud of this or happiest with how it came out?
    • I do not keep track of my posts often, though I placed a widget keeping track of my most viewed and most liked ‘chocolates’ to remind me sometimes. I am proud of everything I have written in this blog. From the very first short story to the current one. I do not have a favorite piece. Pieces… maybe? Cowards Who Loved and A Fool’s Defense. CWL is a two POV story I wrote before Christmas last year (late October) and I decided to post it in hopes that it might help me move on from the foolishness I have been trying to defend in A Fool’s Defense. These two posts, written a month apart, have a history and am honestly touched that some people like it.
  5. What word or phrase commonly used by people today needs to die?
    • I am stumped. Literally. I was going to say gender-bias when I read the question but then later, “Oh, it said word or phrase commonly used”. ALL PHRASES that refer to stereotypical judgments and biases, if you ask me. Like nigger, for example. Among countless others. White and black should only be used to describe colors in a canvass and not to describe the color of the skin. Orange, too! Oh, I have one. We should stop using colors as labels and nationalities to describe traits in a certain context. Say for example, in the Philippines, lateness is describes as ‘Filipino time’ thereby having the connotation that all Filipinos arrive late. Countless others are out there, I am just pretty much stoked right now so my mind is not functioning all that well.
  6. Favorite action movie of all time?
    • How do you define action? One with all the guns and bombs, or those with martial arts? Or both? As evidenced by my very enthusiastic review on The Mechanic right after watching it, I am a fan of action films. But I do enjoy a great martial arts films too; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon at the top of the list for now. The totality of the film very much deserves its many awards among them, its Academy Award. Ang Lee, you rock! So does your Brokeback Mountain! Most rewatched films are all of Milla Jovovich (Resident evil and Ultraviolet) and the Kill Bill series. I love car chases too so Transporter series and The Fast and Furious series gets in, too! The second one always the best in their franchise. I can go on but … Haha!

See? What did I tell you? I’m prone to breaking rules.

Whew! Finally got them all out of my chest.

Questions:

I am going to save you all the drama of ever asking you questions about your personal life and/or family as I know I rarely share mine. So these questions are all off of the top of my head.

  1. If you were to live another person’s life, whose would it be and why?
  2. Favorite film of any genre and why.
  3. Musician or lyricist? Which would you prefer?
  4. What super power would you choose to have?
  5. What songs and/or which artists are in your playlist?
  6. What do you think is the greatest weakness of mankind?
  7. In a word, describe my blog and say why.
  8. Can you please critique any or one of my posts and tell me how I might be able to improve if I do ever feel like writing one like is some time soon?
  9. If I had amnesia, how would you make me remember you? Assume that we have known each other for as long as necessary.
  10. If everything starts with a lie, what yours?

Nominees! I am not sure how many I should nominate so I went ahead and nominated all those who brought joy to me and those whose posts never fail to put a smile on my face.

Theirs is a blog not only varied but they have done so with utmost passion and it never fails to amaze me that I had to meet such great and amazing like them.

Spread those sunlight rays! 🙂
